BOSTON — Governor Maura Healey on Friday appointed Worcester City Manager Eric Batista to the Massachusetts Department of Transportation's (MassDOT) Board of Directors.
Batista, known for his experience in municipal government and transportation planning, will join the board under the leadership of Transportation Secretary Monica Tibbits-Nutt.
"Eric Batista's dedication to public service and his expertise in the relationship between transportation and quality of life will be valuable assets to the MassDOT board," Healey said. "We are confident this team will work to ensure a safe, reliable transportation system for the state."
Batista, who became Worcester’s City Manager in 2022, expressed his commitment to improving infrastructure and accessibility across the Commonwealth. "Transportation is vital to the success of cities and towns," he said. "I look forward to building an equitable transportation network that benefits all."
Batista joins a board composed of leaders with backgrounds in civil engineering, finance, and municipal government, tasked with overseeing the state's transportation system.
