No credible threat found in Worcester schools after scare

  • WORCESTER – The Worcester Public Schools and Worcester Police Department are investigating a series of threatening messages circulating on social media, according to a joint statement from Superintendent Rachel H. Monárrez and Interim Police Chief Paul Saucier.

Multiple students reported seeing the messages on Saturday, prompting a renewed investigation.

Police are working to determine if these posts are related to earlier threats made earlier this week. However, officials stated that there is no evidence of a credible threat to student safety at this time.

"There will be additional police presence at identified schools on Monday," the statement read, as part of ongoing efforts to ensure safety. School staff have also been instructed to be vigilant about visitor management and to enforce existing safety protocols.

The joint message expressed frustration over the rise in non-credible threats targeting schools across the state. Monárrez and Saucier thanked students and caregivers for their cooperation in reporting concerns and reiterated their commitment to student safety.

Anyone with information regarding safety concerns is urged to contact the district or police.
