Boys 14 and 16 pull gun on Worcester cabbie, police say

  • WORCESTER – 2 teenage boys have been arrested after allegedly threatening a Worcester cab driver with a gun over a fare dispute, police said Monday.

On Friday, July 4th, shortly before 5:30 p.m., officers responded to Uxbridge Street for a reported armed robbery.

The victim, a cab driver, told police he had picked up 2 juvenile males near Gardner and Main streets. When he stopped at Uxbridge Street and Green Hill Parkway and asked for payment, the passengers refused to pay, he said.

According to police, one of the teens then pulled out a gun and held it up toward the driver’s seat before both suspects fled down Green Hill Parkway. The cab driver was not injured.

After an investigation, officers arrested both suspects, ages 14 and 16, on Saturday. Each is charged with armed assault to rob and evading a taxi fare.

    The investigation remains ongoing.
