SUTTON — In an unusual discovery, Sutton Police Department Detective Alex Sinni seized a rocket launcher and a small quantity of crack cocaine from a vehicle at the Red Roof Inn's parking lot on Wednesday.
The incident began with Detective Sinni conducting surveillance on a suspicious vehicle. Upon approaching and engaging the sole occupant in conversation, identified as Harvey Johnson Jr. of Spencer, Sinni noticed items indicative of illegal narcotics use.
The investigation took an unexpected turn when Sinni discovered an M190 U.S. Army Rocket Launcher among Johnson's possessions, along with the narcotics. The police department humorously acknowledged the bizarre nature of the find in a Facebook post, expressing disbelief over the seizure of such a device: "You found what!?!?"

"Mmmmhmmm, you read that correctly....a ROCKET LAUNCHER!" the Sutton Police Department wrote.
Agents from the Alcohol, Tobacco, and Firearms were consulted to handle the rocket launcher's custody, indicating the seriousness of possessing such military-grade weaponry.
Johnson faces charges for possession of a Class B substance (crack cocaine) and control of an incendiary device. The Sutton Police Department has reminded the public that all individuals are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
This incident underscores the variety of challenges law enforcement officers encounter and the importance of inter-agency cooperation in ensuring public safety.
