  • K9 Beebs (Worcester Police Department)

WORCESTER - Worcester Police Department's K9 unit Beebs played a pivotal role in apprehending 2 breaking and entering suspects on Monday, March 27th.

At around 1:00 p.m., officers were dispatched to 139 Eastern Ave. following reports of a break-in.

Officers found a broken window and were told a male and female suspect had entered an apartment. Officers found a woman attempting to escape through a window with the assistance of a man, later identified as 61-year-old Thomas Reid. Officers safely guided the woman to the ground, where she was detained.

Reid, who appeared at first to have a gun, was warned not to move. Despite officers' repeated announcements for him to come out, he remained unresponsive. Beebs was called in, entering the apartment alongside his handler.

Beebs alerted his handler to a bedroom door where Reid was hiding. Officers took him into custody without incident. No gun was found.

The woman was identified as Cindy Moquin and charged with trespassing. Reid faces charges of trespassing, breaking and entering during the daytime with intent to commit a felony, and willful and malicious destruction of property.
