Worcester K9 Boomer sniffs out employee gun theft in Auburn

    AUBURN - A local business in Auburn faced an unusual incident on Monday when an employee was arrested for allegedly stealing a gun from a customer's car, according to a social media post by the Auburn Police Department.

    Worcester Police Department's K9 Boomer played a crucial role in solving the case by finding the hidden weapon on the property.

    The Auburn Police Department received a call from a male customer reporting that his firearm had gone missing from his vehicle after he picked it up from being serviced at the local business. Believing the stolen firearm was still on the property, authorities called in W.P.D. K9 Boomer to help in the search. Boomer, a specially trained canine skilled in detecting firearms and explosives, quickly located the hidden weapon.

    An employee of the business was arrested and charged with stealing the gun. According to the Auburn Police Department, additional charges are expected to follow.

    The successful collaboration between the Worcester and Auburn police departments, as well as the Auburn Fire Department's assistance in the recovery, resulted in the swift conclusion of the case. The Auburn Police Department expressed their gratitude to Worcester Police Department's Sgt. Watts and K9 Boomer for their diligent work in the investigation.
