For the second time in less than 2 weeks, Worcester police officers responded to a call about an assault at a Worcester donut shop.
The most recent incident occurred on Thursday, September 28th, when officers were called to the Dunkin store at 845 Main Street.
According to a release from the Worcester Police Department, there was a report of a man threatening people with a knife. Witnesses reported that a man entered the store and began making demands. When his demands were denied, he displayed a knife and began yelling at employees.
Witnesses said a bystander tried to intervene and the suspect put a knife in his face before fleeing. Officers issued a B.O.L.O for the male.
While checking the area, officers located a man, later identified as Curtis Bryan, 51, of Main St., who matched the witnesses' description given.
Officers detained Mr. Bryan and found a knife. During the detention, Mr. Bryan began pulling away from officers and spitting on them. After officers gathered additional evidence linking him to the Dunkin incident, he was placed under arrest and is charged with assault with a dangerous weapon (the knife) and assault and battery on a police officer. He also had an outstanding arrest warrant.
This latest incident comes 9 days after Worcester officers arrested a 30-year-old man for allegedly assaulting 2 elderly men at a Dunkin's on Park Ave.
A 72-year-old man told officers he was sitting with friends when approached by Manuel Santiago, who asked for money. When the group declined, Santiago left but returned minutes later wearing a black ski mask and allegedly struck the 72-year-old man and another 72-year-old man who attempted to intervene.
