WORCESTER — It seems disguises aren't just for Halloween! A faux construction worker's attempt at pilfering police property took an unexpected turn at Union Station on the morning of Thursday, October 19th.

Around 10:35 a.m., a vigilant Worcester Police officer patrolling around Union Station spotted a man, fashionably donned in a red hard hat and safety glasses, wandering through a secured basement area, which is usually off-limits to the public.

The supposedly under-construction culprit, later identified as 29-year-old Nathaniel Gaye of Boston, was caught red-handed... or rather, red-hatted, clutching a Worcester police bike and strolling casually away from the storage unit where these bikes are kept.

When confronted, the suspect attempted to defend his presence by claiming to be a member of a construction crew tidying up Union Station.

Backup was quickly summoned, and officers discovered a cart brimming with assorted items, including an advanced security system destined for installation at the station. It became abundantly clear that Gaye was not on an innocent errand but had more clandestine intentions.

When told of his impending arrest, Gaye opted for the age-old strategy of "run for it" but was promptly apprehended after a short chase down Harding Street.

Apart from the discovery of two active warrants linked to Gaye's name, he now faces an array of charges, including larceny from a building, larceny over $1,200, resisting arrest, disorderly conduct, disturbing the peace, and trespassing.
