Pedestrian crash the first since Worcester leaders declared road safety crisis
WORCESTER — A pedestrian is in critical condition after being struck by a vehicle early Sunday morning on Greenwood Street, according to the Worcester Police Department.
Officers were dispatched at approximately 12:26 a.m. and found an adult female resident of Worcester suffering from serious injuries. She was transported to a local hospital, where she remains in critical condition.
The woman is at least the fourth pedestrian struck by a vehicle in Worcester in just over 6 weeks:
On August 1st, City Manager Eric Batista and Mayor Joe Petty declared a road safety crisis.
The driver of the vehicle remained at the scene following Sunday's crash.
The Worcester Police Department's Crash Reconstruction Unit is currently investigating the cause of the crash.
