Worcester police seize loaded gun, arrest fugitive

  • WORCESTER — A Worcester man with multiple active warrants was arrested Wednesday evening after police executed a search warrant at a Fiske Street residence, authorities said.

    Gang Unit officers entered the home around 5:15 p.m. and took 32-year-old Lakeam Bennett into custody, Worcester police said in a statement.

    Bennett had 5 outstanding warrants, including charges related to previous gun offenses.

    During the search, officers found what appeared to be a loaded gun, authorities said. Bennett did not have a license to carry, and police also discovered suspected Oxycodone pills without a prescription.

    Bennett faces several new charges, including unlawfully carrying a gun, possession of a large-capacity gun and feeding device, improper storage of a gun, possession of a gun during the commission of a felony, resisting arrest, and possession of a Class B substance with intent to distribute.

    He was transported to police headquarters for booking.
