City manager names Paul Saucier Worcester Police Chief

  • WORCESTER — Worcester City Manager Eric D. Batista has appointed Interim Police Chief Paul B. Saucier as the city’s permanent police chief, effective March 1st, officials announced Friday.

Saucier, who has led the department in an interim capacity for the past 18 months, will be formally sworn in during a promotion ceremony on March 14th at City Hall.

“Since day one of Saucier’s appointment as Interim Chief, he has gone above and beyond,” Batista said. “He has been open to feedback and has embraced change. I’m pleased to make his permanent appointment.”

Saucier, a 30-year veteran of the Worcester Police Department, previously served as deputy chief for nearly eight years. He has held key leadership roles, including commander of the Operations Division, S.W.A.T. Team, and Bureau of Investigative Services.

“It is a privilege to lead the dedicated men and women of the Worcester Police Department,” Saucier said. “I am excited to continue our shared mission of fostering a culture founded on honor, integrity, and professionalism.”
