“Hickory Drive,” an independent film to be shot locally in the spring is in preproduction, according to imdb.com.
The synopsis on imbd.com reads, "Tragedy strikes in small town America."
The teaser trailer (below) shows a young woman preparing to go for a jog and a man driving a van on a country road.
The trailer shows a striking similarity to the 2016 murder of Vanessa Marcotte.
Marcotte, 27, was murdered on Aug. 7, 2016. She was last seen jogging on a rural road in Princeton. She was found assaulted and murdered that night. In April 2017, authorities arrested 31-year-old Angelo Colon-Ortiz of Worcester her murder after linking his DNA to the crime scene.
Despite the similarities, those involved with the film say it is not based on the case. They describe it as “a Thriller Drama with a love story,” and “a captivating edge-of-your-seat thriller inspired by true events.”
The movie is being produced by Realmass Studios, which this summer held a casting call for a female lead, a mother/housewife, a boy/childhood friend and a female chief of police.
According to the trailer, the movie will star Megan Hay, the story is by Adam Morey, Daniel McNulty will direct, and Jake Dijak is producing an original score.
"A thriller inspired by true events, a Realmass Studios production, starring Megan Hay, a story by Adam Morey, Directed by Daniel McNulty, original score by Jake Dijak."
